Dear all,

End of week 7. We are coming closely to the end of this course and by the way the date for the first draft of the final project.
As for this week, the reading was basically on Learner Autonomy. These articles are very interesting because they tell us about the importance of centering learning on the learner. The learner participation in the learning is very determinant for his/her success. As defined by Holec 1981 learner autonomy is"the ability to take charge of one's own learning"
To add the teacher must help the learner with strategies (cognitive or metacognitive), help define learning objectives and goals. I posted my comments on participant discussions in nicenet and blogs.
The hard task of the week was the completion of project plan. It is hard due to school and extra school activities.
I think that this project will bring interest for students as far as their motivation is concerned. I think they could start developing personal initiative in their learning process after this project.

  1. Dear Diallo,

I'm also finding it difficult to juggle all we have: school, course and families. But, just like another participant so well out it "No pain, no gain" - she is right! We'll manage anyway. I haven't finished it yet, but I will for Wednesday and hope you too
Best greetings and a great week,
    Alex (Portugal)

  2. Dear Diallo,
I agree with you that the teacher must help the learner with strategies (cognitive or metacognitive), help define learning objectives and goals. That was what we learned from week 7. I got quite alot of knowledge concerning with learner autonomy. Do not worry about final project. It will finish in time. Because we are moving forward. I am also the one who has not finished yet.

    Greeting from Myanmar
