Internet and teaching and learning english

With the swift development of technology of our world without which life is almost impossible today, language teachers and mainly english ones cannot neglect using technology in their classes or teaching. In this order, I would like to bring my contribution. I am writing a Master thesis on the contribution of the internet in teaching and learning english. I invite good wills ones to contribute.

Dear all!

This week marks the end of our ten weeks training. We learned many interestng things as far as TECHNOLOGY is concerned in relation to language Learning and teaching.  I found all the topics covered very interestng and also very helpful for my classes. The use of technology Tools helps save time and facilitates the tasks both for the students and the teacher. These technology Tools help the learner  be really involved in the Learning process which will lead to autonomy. I learned about ABCD objectives which is important before any teaching to take place. I learned about different types of assessment, types of learners, etc.
I found the topics about ABCD objectives, Reading/Writing websites and technology-enhanced lessons, Learner styles: technology connections, Academic blogs an Nicenet discussions very successfull.  All of them are really ueful for me. The technology Tools that I will use are academic blogs, E-mails (through Nicenet that I 've already started using with my students), using websites and technology-enhanced lessons.
This course (Webskills) was demanding some basic knowledge of computer science. I thought it would be good if some notions were given before the begnning of the program. It is true that all participants do not have the same difficulties.
In addition, the use of technology should be integrated in language Learning where this does not exist. But the difficulties in some places like ours make it difficult so that we need to apply it with other plans: one computer classroom, audio devices use and others.

Many thanks to all for sharing your experiences. Special thanks to DONNA who really devoted her time and energy for us. Thank you Donna.

Week 9 Webskills reflection

Dear all,

Unbelievable but real! We are almost done with this course which was not sure many weeks ago. Thanks to God and everyone's support we are still there. This week we read about Multiple intelligences and types of learners. This issue is very important for teachers because knowing what kind of learners our students are help us be efficient in our teaching. In other words this means that we are engaging all learners by varying our teaching. And we should also make sure to balance some elements such active and reflective Learning. So we must not forget that there are differences between learners. The hard task for this week was integrating feedback to improve the final project report and sending it on time. I thank Donna for her support because my group members were not ready.
After the reading I participated in the discussion on Nicenet, posted my comments and ended the week with the blog and posted comments in a course participant blog.

See you for the last week

Dear all,

We are approaching to the end of this course and at the same time we will stop receiving technology resources from Donna. But we are Lucky because what we gained is very important in terms of content that is already benefiting to our students. This week there were many things to do on, Nicenet and mainly sending the Project draft to partners and sending also feedback to peers. I created a Nicenet class where students can find assignments, discussion topics and also post their thouhts.
The different tasks allowed me to master some interesting points about computer science and also about networking.

Dear all,

End of week 7. We are coming closely to the end of this course and by the way the date for the first draft of the final project.
As for this week, the reading was basically on Learner Autonomy. These articles are very interesting because they tell us about the importance of centering learning on the learner. The learner participation in the learning is very determinant for his/her success. As defined by Holec 1981 learner autonomy is"the ability to take charge of one's own learning"
To add the teacher must help the learner with strategies (cognitive or metacognitive), help define learning objectives and goals. I posted my comments on participant discussions in nicenet and blogs.
The hard task of the week was the completion of project plan. It is hard due to school and extra school activities.
I think that this project will bring interest for students as far as their motivation is concerned. I think they could start developing personal initiative in their learning process after this project.

Dear all,

We are at the end of week 6 and I think we learned interesing theoritical things and also some practical things with the creation of the interactive powerpoint. the different readings informed us on interesting points on teaching large classes by using technology. After that we read others posts and also posted our comments in Nicenet and started implementing the technology suggested. I think the implementation is going well and I hope that my students will appreciate the activity after it comes for them to give their impressions, thoughts and maybe suggestions.
If I succeed in this I think that it will be at the same time an importunity to Schedule it as a usual method in conducting my teching and beyond all the other colleagues in my school and in the whole city.

Dear all,

Week 5 has gone and we are now tackling week 6. I am still struggling to keep on with the week Schedule because an internet cable brokedown in my area and it causes troubles as far as internet access is concerned.
There were a lot of things to do and we can now say that time is really difficult to manage with other daily acivities. I discoered many new things with WebQuest, the different types of Rubrics, alternative assessment. Next I created a rubric on an oral activity, a WebQuest. In addition I participated in the different discussions on nicenet, commented other posts and blogs.
What I can say is that every week I learn new things that will positively influence my teaching.
Thank you all of you for your encouraging words.
